Friday Night Pizza Deal

The best things in life may not be free, but they do come at a good price sometimes. Friday evenings at Eatzi these delectable thin-crust pizzas are only $10. Grab a High Life or wine and sit out on the patio. Choose from margherita, mushroom, "multi-cheese" and my favorite (shown here), hot coppa. Available from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Don't call ahead, they're ready. Just walk in and ask for your favorite.

Grapevine to Get eatZi's

The availability of prepared food seems to be something that can help a neighborhood be livable, at least for some. The City of Grapevine seems to recognize this, and so has worked out a deal with Dallas-based eatZi's to provide specialty groceries, take-home meals, coffee and bakery items.

My favorite part benefit of eatZi's is the Friday night thin crust pizza, which only costs around $10 and ranks with the best.

The new store at Wiliam D. Tate and Texas 114 in Grapevine will be followed by another smaller store at a location yet to be determined.

Get it at Grimaldi's Before You Go

You could spend two hours or more of your New York City vacation waiting for a slice of Grimaldi's pizza, or you could stop by the West Village location in Dallas before you go. The slice you see here is a Brooklyn favorite known as Margherita pizza. This is pure pizza without blinding flavors and a recipe that allows you to taste the purity of the sauce, cheese and crust. When I used to order it in Brooklyn at Amorina Pizza on Vanderbilt, it would come with sauce, basil and round pads of mozzarella. Grimaldi's came close, though I think I would prefer it without the tomatoes. Anyway, the atmosphere is great, it's located on the McKinney streetcar line and you'll find it hard to argue with a more than 90 percent favorable rating on Urban Spoon.
